Axial 050 EC – 5 liters – pinoxaden cloquintocet

Syngenta

Axial 050 EC with pinoxaden cloquintocet is a selective, systemic, vegetative herbicide for control of annual cereal weeds, incl. wild oats

Manufacturer: Syngenta
Packaging: 5 liter
Active substance: pinoxaden 50 g/l + cloquintocet – mexil 12,5 g/l
Formulations: emulsion concentrate (EC)
Shelf life (years): 3 years
Use against: annual monocotyledonous

Axial 050 EC is selective, systemic, vegetative herbicide for control of annual cereal weeds, incl. wild oats

Crops:

  • Wheat, barley – 60-90 ml / 1000 m2
  • Wheat & Barkey Wild oats (Avena fatua) Little seeded canary grass (Phalaris minor) Italian ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum) Setaria glauca – 2-4 leaf 900 ml/ha 28 Days

How to use:

The product can be applied up to the second internode stage of wheat cultivation, an interval in which the optimal stage of weed control. Over this stage, weeds become more resistant and depending on weather conditions, the effect of the product may decrease. In case of mixed infestations (monocotyledonous and dicotyledonous) Axial 050 EC is applied associated with a herbicide against dicotyledonous weeds, such as Logran 20 WG. A solution volume of 200-300 liters / ha is used.

MODE OF ACTIVITY
Axial® 050 EC is taken up through the leaves of grass weeds. Active growth
of susceptible grasses ceases within 48 hours after application. Symptoms
are observed within one to three weeks depending on environmental conditions and species involved. Decay of nodes and growing points is visible, with
young leaves showing chlorosis followed by necrosis.
The safener cloquintocet mexyl selectively prevents phytotoxic effects in
wheat and barley by considerably accelerating the metabolism of the active
ingredient.
USE RESTRICTIONS
Do not apply Axial® 050 EC:
• to wheat fields where confirmed or suspected herbicide resistance against
Group A exist;
• to weeds under drought or nutrient stress conditions;
• on waterlogged soils;
5
• to weeds under cold stress;
• on oats.
• Do not use Axial® 050 EC in a tank mixture with any of the phenoxycarboxylic acids e.g. 2,4-D, MCPA or dicamba containing products as this
could lead to antagonism.
• Do not use Axial® 050 EC over or allow spray drift to come in contact with
neighbouring oats fields.
• Axial® 050 EC does not control volunteer maize.
MINIMUM RECROPPING INTERVALS AND CROP ROTATION
GUIDELINES
Axial® 050 EC is quickly degraded in the soil and has little or no soil activity.
There are no re-cropping restrictions.
SPECTRUM OF ACTIVITY
The following weed species are normally controlled by Axial® 050 EC at the
dosage rates indicated below:
Avena spp. – wild oats; Lolium species – ryegrass species; Phalaris minor –
little seeded canary grass; Phalaris minor / paradoxa; Setaria glauca.
Resistance to the piridinyl-oxyphenoxygroup of herbicides may exist in some
of these populations. Do not apply Axial® 050 EC to these populations.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
COMPATIBILITY
The compatibility of Axial® 050 EC with other products may be influenced by
the formulation of the products involved as well as the quality of the water.
Since the formulation of other products may change without the knowledge
of Syngenta and the quality of water may vary from farm to farm, a physical
compatibility test should always be carried out prior to application.
Axial® 050 EC can be mixed with bromoxynil, ioxynil, fluroxypyr and most
common sulfonylurea type products to control both grasses and dicot weeds.
Some degree of antagonism of grass control on certain grass species can
be expected when mixed with certain hormone based herbicides, containing
2,4-D or dicamba.
Axial® 050 EC is compatible with cereal fungicides as well as with plant
growth regulators such as trinexapac. Compatibility with specific local dicot
herbicide and other mixing products has to be checked on a case-by-case
basis.
6
MIXING INSTRUCTIONS
Half-fill the spray tank with water, and pour the required amount of
Axial® 050 EC into the spray tank while the water is being stirred.
Top up with water to the final volume required.
When Axial® 050 EC is tank mixed with other herbicides, insecticides and fungicides these must be added first, well mixed and in suspension before
Axial® 050 EC is added.
Ensure thorough agitation of the mixture in the tank during mixing and
spraying.
Tank mixtures must be sprayed out immediately and not allowed to
stand in the spray tank.
APPLICATION TECHNIQUE
Apply Axial® 050 EC only to young actively growing weeds. It is essential
that all parts of the weeds are thoroughly covered by the herbicide spray to
ensure effective control. Axial® 050 EC should be applied prior to crop growth
reaching a density, which would inhibit effective coverage of the weeds. In
order to achieve this the following application instructions must be adhered
to:
Tractor application
Axial® 050 EC alone, or in mixtures with other herbicides may be applied
with any medium or high volume sprayer equipped with an efficient agitation mechanism, provided that adequate coverage and even distribution is
obtained. Best results are obtained using flat fan-type spray nozzles. Ensure
thorough coverage of the weeds. For optimal control a water volume of at
least 200 l/ha should be use.
Important: Weeds that are overshadowed by other weeds or the crop may
result in variable control due to insufficient coverage. When timing the application of Axial® 050 EC this aspect must be considered.

Remarks:
• Axial® 050 EC has no soil residual action. Applications of Axial® 050 EC
under adverse conditions might result in regrowth.
• A delay in application of Axial® 050 EC beyond the 4 leaf weed stage may
result in severe yield losses due to weed competition.
• Inferior control of the target weeds may be expected when the weed stage
exceeds the 4 leaf stage at the time of application.
• Axial® 050 EC should only be applied once in a given season on a given
crop. If necessary under certain conditions Topik® can be applied not
earlier than 21 days later.
• An Axial® 050 EC application could be followed by a single SU application
and only for broadleaf weed control.
• The use of SU’s for grass control during the same crop cycle and Axial®
050 EC is not recommended.
GENERAL
• Weeds which have not germinated at the time of application will not be
controlled.
• Apply only during favourable climatic conditions when the weeds are
actively growing.
• Axial® 050 EC rapidly inhibits growth of susceptible weeds. However,
visible symptoms of dying weeds may not be noticeable for 1 to 3 weeks
after application depending on growing conditions and weed susceptibility.
• Axial® 050 EC is selective in wheat and barley and can be applied to any
cultiva

Note: Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious patient and never
induce vomiting.
NOTE TO PHYSICIAN
There is no specific antidote available. Treat symptomatically.
WARRANTY
Before applying the product read the attached package leaflet.
The user bears the risk for damage resulting from factors beyond the
manufacturer’s control.
Resistant strains of weeds may develop or may exist against which
herbicides may be less effective. Since the occurrence of such strains cannot
be forecast, neither the manufacturer nor its distributors can assume responsibility for any loss or damage caused by failure to control resistant weeds.
All recommendations for use of the herbicide are based on the current state
of the manufacturer’s knowledge. Since the manufacturer cannot control the
farmers’ choice of herbicides, its application, use, storage or processing of
the product or other agronomic practices, the manufacturer cannot assume
responsibility therefor.
